Tractor Supply Co. has announced its planned management succession with current president and COO, Gregory Sandfort, assuming the role of president and CEO effective January 1, 2013. Sandfort also will assume a seat on the board of directors. At the same time, James Wright, the company's current chairman and CEO will assume the title of executive chairman of the board with a term of one year. Sandfort joined Tractor Supply Company as chief merchandising officer in November 2007 and has been instrumental to its ability to effectively grow sales and operating margins while improving operating efficiencies and inventory productivity, the company stated. He was promoted to president and chief merchandising officer in February 2009 and to president and COO in February 2012. Before joining Tractor Supply, Sandfort served as president and COO at Michaels Stores, Inc.
