To celebrate Chinese New Year, select Bloomingdale’s stores will schedule special events and open pop-up shops through February 18. The limited-edition pop-up shops, which the retailer stated are curated by its own style experts, offer unique wardrobe and home items celebrating Chinese culture, it said.

Pop up shops will operate in Bloomingdale’s 59th Street in New York, Medinah Home, Chicago, North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, CA, and San Francisco Centre. Vendors participating in the pop-up shops include 7 For All Mankind, Altru, Asian Loft, Audiology, Baccarat, Christofle, Chronicle Books, Carmen Marc Valvo Couture, Charles Philip Shanghai, Chaser, DCI, Dogeared, Equipment, Fox, Franz, Graphic Image, J Brand, Kenneth Jay Lane, Kim Seybert, Kusmi, Lalique, L'Objet, Maximilian, Me N U, Natori, Riedel, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Tateossian.

Promotions include a nod to the Chinese red envelope tradition, Bloomindales said. Shoppers at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street, North Michigan Avenue, San Francisco Centre, and South Coast Plaza, can pick up their own red envelope from February 7 to 10. The retailer said it would fill select envelopes with prizes such as a bMoney card in a denomination of $8, $88, or $888, a traditional lucky number in Chinese culture. Customers also can win a complimentary small Forty Carrots yogurt in a limited-edition Taro Root flavor, a special limited-edition Chinese New Year shopping tote, and other prizes.

“Bloomingdale’s is excited to not only recognize and celebrate this special holiday, but the entire Chinese culture,” says Michael Gould, chairman and CEO. “It is our hope that Chinese consumers and tourists, along with all of our loyal shoppers, will enjoy the festive holiday and culture rooted in tradition.”

Bloomingdales operates 37 department stores and 13 outlets in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, New Hampshire, California and Texas, as well as an international location in Dubai and an e-commerce web site.
