Whalen Furniture Mfg. Inc. and Walker Edison Furniture Co. LLC have reached an agreement to settle the existing patent dispute between them, Walker Edison announced in a statement. Under terms of the arrangement, the parties have agreed that Walker Edison will discontinue selling 3-in-1 mounting systems, although it can sell off its current inventory of those products that were at issue in the litigation, the company noted. Both companies manufacture and sell ready-to-assemble, flat-panel-television mounting systems. In December, 2011 Whalen initiated legal action against Walker Edison, Z-Line Designs, Inc., Bell’O International Corp. and TechCraft Manufacturing, Inc. in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Whalen has asserted that the 3-in-1 television stands produced by the competitors named in lawsuits it has filed infringe on patents the company holds. Ken Whalen, president of Whalen Furniture Manufacturing, told HomeWorld Business, "We intend to defend our intellectual property, and we're happy that Whalen and Walker Edison came to a reasonable conclusion to this matter. We are very pleased Walker Edison has agreed to discontinue offering the three-in-one entertainment solution after selling off its current inventory. A swift conclusion to this matter can only help clarify the issue of the 3-in-1 entertainment solution in the marketplace." Tags: Housewares Home Décor |
