Omron Healthcare has launched the Heat Pain Pro, an over-the-counter medical tool that is said to relieve acute muscle and joint pain.
According to the company, the device uses heat and TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) technology, a combination used by physical therapists to maximize therapy effectiveness. TENS sends stimulating pulses across the surface of the skin and along the nerve strands that help prevent pain signals from reaching the brain. Electrical stimulation can also trigger the body to release endorphins, which act as natural painkillers. TENS technology was previously accessible only through a visit to a doctor or health practitioner, the company said.
“Millions of Americans suffer from daily pain. The Heat Pain Pro features 27 different combinations of heat and TENS modes and 20 different levels of intensity. It has pre-set therapy options for a variety of conditions and locations, including lower back, arm, leg, foot, shoulders and joints. It is also includes a rechargeable battery and gel pads, which can be used for up to 30 times before requiring replacement.
The Omron Heat Pain Pro is currently available at Walgreens and CVS stores nationwide and can be purchased online at Amazon.com and CVS.com for a suggested retail price of $89.99.
