Blueair Connects Classic Air Purifiers To Smart Home

Blueair has updated its Classic air purifiers with WiFi-enabled cloud connectivity. The new units include models 205, 405, 505 and 605, and are newly equipped with built-in clean air intelligence technology that integrates WiFi with the standalone Aware air monitor.

According to the company, the new technology and air monitor help consumers better understand what is polluting their indoor air. The connectivity feature is an added benefit, allowing users to control the purifier through their smart phone or Apple Watch. When linked to the Blueair Friend app and Blueair Aware monitor, consumers can monitor their indoor air and adjust purifier settings remotely.

The new line is also said to offer an improved clean air delivery rate (CADR), filtering 20% more air on the faster speed setting and lower noise level and power consumption due to improved fan technology. Aesthetically, units are sleeker with a slightly more rounded appearance, have a brighter white finish and tout an improved user interface hidden by a narrow display flap on the unit’s front.

“The Blueair Classic family is a torchbearer for our mission to ensure people everywhere breathe cleaner air in an urbanizing world where it’s in short supply,” said Bengt Rittri, founder and CEO, Blueair. “Our Classic line has set the gold standard for air purifiers, a 20-year best-seller, now packing more clean air power into an updated, connected device.”

The new Classic air cleaner line is now available for purchase in the U.S. online and through retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy and Bloomingdale’s, with prices ranging from $399 to $899.
