Meijer Moves Into Wisconsin

With the opening of two Wisconsin stores, Meijer has moved into its sixth state, co-chairman Hank Meijer announced. The retailer noted that it built the two 192,000-square-foot super centers in Grafton and Kenosha to LEED standards and that it will keep them open 24 hours a day.

The super centers are the first of an estimated $750 million investment in the state, noted Meijer.          

Meijer now has 219 stores operating in six states, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Indiana, as well as Wisconsin. In August, the retailer plans to open two additional Wisconsin stores in Wauwatosa and Oak Creek.

“We are proud to open our doors on this first historic day in Wisconsin,” Hank Meijer said. “Since announcing our intention more than two years ago, we’ve done our best to understand the Wisconsin market and truly become a part of the community. We think our neighbors in southeastern Wisconsin will be really pleased with the fresh options they can experience beginning today.”
