Walmart has let go 450 employees at its Bentonville, AR, headquarters, the Associated Press reported on Friday. According to the report, the cuts came from across several different departments ranging from finance to global e-commerce. Some 18,000 people work at the company’s headquarters. Walmart CEO Doug McMillion, in an internal memo that was made public by The Wall Street Journal, said, “After months of evaluation, we’ve concluded there is an opportunity to better position our Home Office teams to move with speed and purpose.” He added that the company is at “an important time in our history” that calls for pulling back in some areas and investing in others.
