Robinson Home Products has debuted the Oneida Terrace collection. The line is Oneida’s first branded tabletop collection for “upscale outdoor entertaining,” and spans dinnerware, flatware and drinkware segments. “We’ve been tracking a lot of the home trends, looking at outdoor living as a new world where people are buying high-end kitchens, furniture, carpets and televisions and treating the outdoor space in a more luxurious way. We’re trying to tap into that trend and bring products that elevate the dining experience outdoors,” Ross Patterson, business director/tabletop, Robinson Home Products, told HOMEWORLD BUSINESS®. Part of this outdoor dining experience involves new materials for the Oneida brand. This includes high quality melamine for dinnerware, plastic handle flatware with forged stainless heads, and Tritan for stemware. The collection has eight colors, which coordinate across different categories. In the flatware segment, Oneida Terrace offers a selection of four designed flatware patterns, available in open stock and set configurations. This includes the Terrace flatware pattern with forged heads and shiny faceted handle designs in six colors: Juniper, Coconut, Rosemary, Sunflower, Berry and Aqua. The Pergola flatware pattern features stainless steel forged heads and faceted handle designs in a matte finish. Droplet flatware is marked by resin inlays, and is available in Berry, Aqua and Sunflower colors. Flagstone flatware designs feature an uneven linear pattern. Melamine dinnerware rounds out the new outdoor Terrace collection to coordinate with the plastic handle flatware. Pieces include a dinner plate (MSRP $5.99), salad plate ($4.99) and bowl ($4.99). Eight different color options will be available including Juniper, Coconut, Rosemary, Sunflower, Aqua, Berry, Licorice and Espresso. Additional designs in the Oneida Terrace collection include outdoor drinkware sold in sets of four highball glasses for $29.99 or four double old-fashioned glasses for $29.99. During the spring New York Tabletop Market, Ross Patterson of Robinson Home Products spoke about the new Oneida outdoor living line. This special issue also features coverage of HomeWorld’s Retailer of the Year 2016, Amazon.

There are plenty of companies that still sentimentally wish they didn’t need to navigate the disruption to generations of reliable retailing routine ignited so stealthily by Amazon more than 20 years ago. And there are sure to be mixed reactions among some housewares vendors and retailers to news that Amazon was anointed the 2016 HomeWorld Business Retailer of the Year.
