NEW YORK— Advertised pricepoints throughout the first half of 2017 were largely similar to those of the same time frame of 2016, but there were some notable differences.
top advertised pricepoints
From January to the end of June, $99.99 was the top advertised pricepoint in small electrics, switching spots with $19.99. In addition, the $89.99 and $69.99 pricepoints were ranked in the top 10 this year, with the $149.99 and $49.99 prices falling out.
The presence of the $89.99 and $69.99 pricepoints come at a time when kitchen electrics suppliers have sought to focus new appliances priced above the opening price level but below $100. The thought among many suppliers is that these items provide the features consumers and provide a strong value to the end user.
top advertised products
From an advertising standpoint in small electrics, coffee remains king and Keurig coffeemakers are the most advertised products, according to Market Track figures. The single-serve coffeemaker supplier through the first six months of 2017 holds three of the five top spots, with two KitchenAid stand mixers rounding out the top five.
However, other appliances have also crept into this year’s top 10 showing a willingness— or perhaps even a need— by retailers to promote an assortment that features new electrics and taps into the needs of today’s consumers.
Among the newer appliance categories on this year’s list is NuWave’s air fryer. Throughout the year, air fryers have gained shelf space at a host of retailers and have been marketed as an appliance that allows home cooks to enjoy the taste of fried foods while using only a small amount of cooking oil.
