Alessi has received Good Design Awards for six of its products, including its Forma cheese grater, Giro cutlery set, Nomu thermal jug, Circus tabletop collection and Water Tower container. The company also received the award for its Alessi Swan kitchen faucet.
Zaha Hadid designed the Forma cheese grater. It features an ergonomic shape, designed to fit comfortably in the hand, the company said, with an asymmetrical pattern of holes designed to create a unique and irregular grating texture.
The Nomu thermal jug, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, features a double-walled flask and insulated thermal jug. It is crafted from stainless steel and suitable for on-the-go use.
The Giro cutlery set, designed by Ben van Berkel/UNStudio, is named for a distinctive twist, which graduates along the length of the knife. The motion, featured in 18/10 polished stainless steel, creates an ergonomic silhouette.
The Circus Collection, designed by Marcel Wanders, features tableware and household accessories suitable for entertaining and everyday use. It includes placemats, bowls, round trays, jars, an ice bucket, bottle stands, a wine cooler, salad bowls, mugs, small bowls and containers. The line is made of 18/10 stainless steel, embellished with original decorations, soldered strips, bone china and glass.
The Water Tower container, designed by Daniel Libeskind, features a mirror-finished cylinder of stainless steel atop a lattice-structure base, capped by a pointed lid. It can be used to store sugar cubes at the table, to safeguard keepsakes on a nightstand or to conceal items for the desktop, the company suggested.
“This annual award is an honor for Alessi not only because it’s an incredible accomplishment for each of our designers, but it recognizes one-of-a-kind projects and innovation in contemporary design,” said Paolo Cravedi, managing director Alessi North America.
