Amazon Launches Prime Card As Member Benefit

Amazon.com and Chase have introduced the new Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card as a benefit to members of the retailer’s paid loyalty program.

The companies introduced the new card as the only one that offers 5% back on all Amazon.com purchases and various other rewards everywhere a user shops, including 2% back at restaurants, gas stations and drug stores, and 1% back on every other purchase.

As part of the introduction, existing Amazon Rewards Visa Signature card members with an eligible Prime membership will receive a new Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card and also get a newly designed metal card and an additional benefit: no foreign transaction fees when traveling abroad or for cross-border shopping.

Amazon cardholders who are not eligible Prime members also are eligible for a range of benefits under the new program with Chase including no foreign transaction fees, 3% back at Amazon.com, 2% back at restaurants, gas stations and drug stores, and 1% back on any other purchase. Card members with Prime membership who join the program will earn the 5% back on purchases at the retailer’s site.

“We are adding even more value to Prime by offering rewards on Amazon and everywhere else you shop,” said Max Bardon, vp/Amazon.
