Amazon.com is expanding its network of fulfillment centers with the construction of new locations in Ohio and Oregon.
In the Buckeye State, the company said it would open its fourth Ohio facility in Monroe, which is located midway between Cincinnati and Dayton. The new facility would require Amazon to hire 1,000 new employees. Associates at the one-million-square-foot facility in Monroe will pick, pack and ship larger customer items such as sports equipment, gardening tools, and pet food.
Currently, the company operates fulfillment centers in Etna and Obetz and recently announced another facility in North Randall.
In addition, Amazon also said it would open its third Oregon fulfillment center in Portland, which will also create more than 1,000 full-time positions. The company recently announced an upcoming fulfillment center in Troutdale and Salem, in addition to the existing sortation center in Hillsboro and Prime Now hub in Portland.
