Artel Introduces Jungle Deco Motif

Artel has introduced Jungle Deco as its newest design motif, said to lend an exotic taste of the tropics to a variety of home décor settings.

Jungle Deco features boldly stylized depiction of leafy palm trees, spiky lotus plants and trailing vines in intricately detail hand-engraved imagery.

According to Artel founder/director, Karen Feldman, one source of inspiration for the new motif was Maurice Sendak’s illustrations in his classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are, a favorite from her childhood. Another was Karl Lagerfeld’s set design for Chanel’s spring 2015 couture collection show at the Grand Palais in Paris, which featured an elaborate jungle arboretum.

“From the moment I saw Lagerfeld’s ingenious set design for the Chanel show, I knew at once that I needed to make a motif that would convey a similar sense of elegant wildness,” said Feldman. “The new design achieves that goal and adds a touch of Art Deco-era sensibility to create a look that is timelessly chic.”
