Black+Decker has expanded its floor care portfolio and entered the robotic vacuum market with its Smartech robotic vacuum line. The new robotic vacuums connect to the brand’s mobile app via Bluetooth, allowing users to control the vacuums from their smartphone.
Within the app, users can select a cleaning mode, program a cleaning schedule, drive the vacuum to a specific location and, on two of the three models, customize the color of the robot’s LED top to fit the owner’s style.
When the vacuum starts cleaning, it uses the company’s AutoSense technology to determine whether it’s cleaning hard surface floors or carpet and automatically adjusts its power level accordingly. The vacuums also use sensors to detect stairs and other drop-off areas, the company said.
Adding to the existing Smartech sensing features, the new vacuums now feature AlertSense, which is said to alert the user when the vacuum encounters an issue. If the vacuum does encounter an issue, the feature prompts an LED light on the top cover to flash directly on the problem area.
The new Black+Decker robotic vacuums will be available in late March at retailers nationwide, and will carry an MSRP for between $349 and $399 with a one year limited warranty.
