Hometown pride is a signature element in a new collection of apparel and housewares Target is launching with designer Todd Snyder. The Local Pride collaboration focuses on city-specific merchandise as the retailer appeals to local tradition.
Target plans a Boston kickoff at the Fenway CityTarget, the retailer’s ninth CityTarget but first on the East Coast, which will include a tour of the town with Todd and Kristen Uekermann of The Boston Fashionista.
Snyder’s Beantown-themed product collection for Target mixes tee-shirts touting messages such as “wicked smaht” and “How Bout Them Apples” with baseball caps, pint glasses, phone cases and other locally-relevant products.
For his Target line, Snyder will spotlight products with hometown appeal in a number of major cities across the United States. Local Pride by Todd Snyder will arrive in San Francisco and Chicago at the end of 2015 and travel further afield in 2016.
“This collection is about the sense of discovery,” Snyder said. “We want to be your tour guide, showcasing the unique aspects of the local cities. I have visited some of the coolest spots and spoken to a lot of locals in each city that helped me design original, exclusive and fun designs.”
