CHICAGO— Chef’n, a brand of Filament Brands, is previewing its summer 2017 lineup of kitchen tools and gadgets at the International Home + Housewares Show, here.
According to Brighid Brady, brand manager, Chef’n, the company will be introducing new families of products, as well as reimagined versions of some classic Chef’n kitchen tools.
“When we approached our summer lineup, we wanted to bring stories around our products to the market. We will always be known for and put effort into something brand new, like our kale stripping tool, to the marketplace, but we also want to help bring families of products together to help our retailers tell the story to consumers. We also wanted to look at some of our Chef’n iconic designs, things we have been known for and how to re-approach the designs,” said Brady.
For example, the company will be preview the Artichoker, which is designed for coring and removing the heart of an artichoke. The Artichoker will have a suggested retail price of $14.99.
“We were challenged by a retailer a few years ago to look at artichokes. It was a tough challenge but we think the Artichoker will help inspire new recipe ideas, especially as artichokes are available more year round and more accessible to home cooks who are experimenting with the vegetable,” explained Brady.
Chef’n will also preview the Preserve Prep Lid family of kitchenware, which is designed for use with pickling, prepping and preserving foods in jars.
“There is an incredible interest in pickling and preserving so we decided to start with these four lids for use with this technique. We created a vacuum seal lid for a tight seal to tackle pickling and lids to take on preserving citrus juice and slicing fruits and vegetables right into canning jars,” said Brady.
The Preserve Prep Lid collection will include the Quickler, for preserving pickles; Lemon-Aid for spiralizing citrus peels and reaming juices; QuickStick for quick slicing of veggies like cucumbers; and SleekSlice which features a mandoline slicer for items such as mangoes and carrots. The collection will have a suggested retail price range of $9.99 to $14.99.
Meanwhile, outside of launching new products, Brady also stated that a goal for the brand’s summer lineup was to look at some of Chef’n’s iconic designs and how to re-approach them.
For example, the company has updated its Veggie Chop, making it in glass and increasing the capacity, two consumer preferences, Brady said. She also noted that the redesigned Veggie Chop will also serve as a platform to explore over the next year, with the potential to expand to a full-powered manual food processor.
The company has also reimagined its Palm collection for prepping veggies, with a new PalmBrush, PalmPeeler and PalmZester. The new tools, said Brady, incorporate more stainless steel for improved functionality and the ergonomic grip has been reimagined as well. The new Palm tools have a suggested retail price range of $6.99 to $7.99.
Chef’n has also updated its Switchits line of dual-sided silicone scrapers and also introducing nylon, stainless and oiled wood to its broader tools collection, as well as adding a pair of stainless steel tongs.
In addition, the company has added to its collection of Slicesters, with a new tool for de-seeding pomegranates, as well as a tool for slicing apples and one for slicing mangoes, all of which have a suggested retail price of $9.99 each.
Chef’n will also introduce its Twist tabletop spiralizer this summer, which has a suggested retail price of $39.99.
