NEW YORK— The year was challenging for the cookware category. Declining sales across most of the segments, with the exception of cast iron, as well as changing consumer buying habits, impacted the industry through the year. Open stock sales are still driving sales, but with lower pricepoints, as consumers are on a mission to create their own cookware sets based on preference.
Looking forward, vendors have pointed to the need for a revitalization of the cookware category and spent the second half of the year exploring new marketing avenues to grow going into 2018.
