Dollar General is expanding into North Dakota, with plans to construct five new stores in the southeastern part of the state.
The stores are expected to celebrate grand openings in spring 2017 and when completed, will expand the company’s presence to 44 states across the country.
“Expanding our footprint into North Dakota provides Dollar General an opportunity to not only deliver value and convenience to additional customers in the upper Midwest, but to also serve communities through our mission of serving others,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s chief executive officer. “Meeting our customers’ needs is our top priority when choosing store locations and we look forward to being a long-standing business partner in the state, as well as welcoming new customers into our stores when these projects are completed next spring.”
The five stores will offer customers the traditional Dollar General store format, which is approximately 9,100 total building square footage and 7,400 sales floor square footage.
Dollar General said it plans to identify additional areas for new store growth in the state. The retailer recently opened its 13,000th retail location.
