Dome Oven Fuels MKE’s Entrance Into Small Electrics

CARSON CITY, NV— MKE International is bringing to market its Karrsen-branded electric Dome Oven as the first phase of its plan to enter the small electrics segment with a product line that company officials said will be designed to simplify meal preparation for today’s home cooks.

“We are not going to be the lowest price, but what we want to offer are products that are a good value to consumers,” said Joey Ober, evp with MKE (Modern Kitchen Engineered).

The Dome Oven is representative of the company’s mindset in regards to product development. While noting the new unit is not what would typically be described as “high tech,” Ober said the oven has several utility and design patents related to heat distribution and other elements of the product.

“Our proprietary captive heat technology includes a dual wall domed lid to capture heat and provide delicious meals up to 40% faster than conventional methods,” he said. “The oven allows the consumer to save time and money when cooking at home.”

Weighing 7.5-pounds, the oven is equipped with temperature settings ranging from 250° Fahrenheit to 450° Fahrenheit while using 1,150-watts of power. Company officials said the unit is able to reach full temperature in less than six minutes, as compared to 15-minutes to 20-minutes of a conventional oven.

Designed with a reversible rack with high and low positions, the oven is designed to accommodate a variety of foods including a 12-inch pizza, up to a 22-pound turkey, bread, cake and potatoes. The bottom pan also has a pour spout and is designed to catch drippings for use when basting or to make gravy. Suggested retail price is $99.99.

Going forward, MKE is planning to have several new items at the 2017 International Home + Housewares Show. Ober said specifics about the appliances would be forthcoming.
