Dyson To Relocate Chicago Headquarters, Expand Staff

Dyson is relocating its U.S. headquarters from its current location in the River North area of Chicago to the Fulton Market District, according to a report in Crain’s Chicago Business. The move is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

The relocation of its U.S. headquarters is said to be part of the company’s plan to add nearly 100 workers in the area. Dyson said it will add almost 70 employees in the Chicago office, which is focused primarily on marketing and sales, and almost 30 to an Aurora call center, according to the report.

After the new hires, Dyson will have 240 workers in the new space on the third floor of Fulton West, with the possibility of later adding more space in the building. Like its current offices, the Fulton Market space will include an area to display its latest technology.

“We wanted to see what was out there in terms of spaces we could customize to fit our culture, look and feel,” said Phil Molyneux, president of the Americas, Dyson. “We landed on this facility, where we’ll have concrete floors, exposed ceilings and a startup feel. We like an open plan where everyone can collaborate.”

In addition, the company said it has invested $312 million to expand its global headquarters in the U.K. and is set to open a $412 million technology center in Singapore.
