As Walmart goes live with its Google personalized voice shopping initiative, Google has released a new Home Mini device to enhance its online virtual assistant platform.
The retailer said its customers now can shop more than two million Walmart products via voice activated control.
At the same time, Google has released a new voice control device. The Google Home Mini, a voice-activated speaker that offers the hands-free online experience, has launched with a price tag of $49. Walmart noted that the mini provides an affordable option for consumers who want to experience how a voice assistant can help them with everyday tasks from getting common questions answered to shopping.
To promote the Google Home Mini, Walmart is offering up to $25 off an order when a customer links a Walmart account to Google Express, which can facilitate virtual assistant shopping. By linking accounts, customers can save time and money when they receive and act on recommendations based on previous purchases made in Walmart stores and on Walmart.com.
