Health Tip Tuesday: Finding Satisfaction Every Day

Satisfaction is quintessential to healthy living. To make 2017 the most satisfying year yet, we have created this series with some steps you can take to make your personal health journey a success.

Satisfaction Tip #1:  Be Accepting of Yourself & Others

Being the toughest critic on yourself is one of the biggest obstacles to achieving satisfaction. Begin by dropping all impractical expectations you place on yourself and start setting attainable goals. Start small by making the bed every morning, bringing lunch to work twice a week, or disconnecting from technology at 10pm.

If you slip up, don’t dwell on feeling discouraged. Instead, forgive yourself and know that transformation takes time. No one is perfect— we all have good and bad days. Go easy on yourself and silence the inner critic that you may believe is keeping you realistic, when it’s really just self-destructive. Treat yourself with the same compassion that you would your best friend.

Think about your best self and the qualities that exemplify that version of you. Check out New York Times bestselling author, Gretchen Rubin’s, Happier podcast for positive affirmations towards personal development.  One of our favorites is, “To be happier, you have to think about feeling good, feeling bad, and feeling right, in an atmosphere of growth.”

A little compassion goes a long way towards fostering deeper connections. Being accepting of yourself lets you be more accepting of others. Understand that no one is perfect and we may all be at different stages of personal development.
