NEW YORK— Prepara is getting ready for a new kitchenware launch this fall with the introduction of its Swiss Fruity Tool. According to the company, the multifunctional kitchen tool is positioned in line with its focus on healthy living food prep.
The new versatile kitchen tool design includes a huller, pitter, corer, citrus reamer, slicer, grater and peeler.
According to Dean Chapman, president, Prepara, the company’s goal with the launch is to tap into the increased availability of fruit year round with the creation of a pocket-sized fruit prep tool combining seven tools in one.
“Fruit is and always will be popular, but more recent advances have allowed us to eat fruit year round and at good prices, while serving up greater choices and varietals. After reviewing our product line, we recognized that we missed having some key basic fruit tools,” Chapman told HOMEWORLD BUSINESS® in a recent interview.
He added, “As Prepara’s core message is ‘healthy lifestyle’ it was obvious we needed to get cracking on designing something new and compelling.”
The company stepped up its product development initiatives during the initial phase of the launch. Chapman noted that the company’s design team spent quite a bit of time testing different tools on the market. Once the company determined the seven multifunctional food prep gadgets it wanted to include in the Swiss Fruity Tool, Prepara honed in on identifying the design of the product and the end retail customer and consumer.
The new kitchen tool also provides Prepara with an opportunity to expand its retail customer base, he said, and potentially, its presence on current retail store shelves.
“Our Swiss Fruity Tool appeals to the gift, recreational equipment and hardware store markets, while offering our current retail customers the chance to sell one very cool tool instead of seven,” he said.
Chapman added that he feels the Swiss Fruity Tool fulfills some basic preferences for gadget buyers across all retail channels.
“It’s priced right and it doesn’t hog the kitchen drawer, as would the seven tools it replaces. Best of all, it is very practical for the ever popular fruit eating market,” he said.
Similar to several of its previous kitchenware launches, Chapman said that Prepara will support the launch of the Swiss Fruity Tool with a carefully choreographed marketing plan to help establish its market visibility as a fruit prep tool for the kitchen, picnics or RVs and campers.
Prepara will roll out two versions of the Swiss Fruity Tool, with the first set to launch in mid-September for a suggested retail price of $19.99. The second version launch will soon follow with a suggested retail price of $24.99.
