The High Point Market Authority has published its Style Report trend analysis, and it highlights the creative mixture of elements that are defining design today.
HPMA enlists interior designers as Style Spotters to check out the market and reveal what they believe are critical trends. Style trends include:
- City Of Angles. From intricate geometric embroidery to dramatic polygonic furniture, angular designs were featured in showrooms all over High Point.
- Metallic Details. From graphic lattice work to organic floral-inspired designs, intricate metal work commanded attention, partly due to the application of distinctive finishes.
- Globally Inspired. A marriage of cultures inspired by traditional Moroccan designs and style points emerging from other indigenous cultures.
- Graphic Content. Bold graphic design elements established an eclectic vibe.
- Hard vs. Soft. Organic shapes grounded in strong, architectural pieces and firm, solid forms complemented by soft, billowy shapes.
- Caned, Rattan, Wicker. Pieces composed of woven cane, rattan, rope and wicker often reinvented with a modern twist.
- Sculptural Influences. The lines between art and furniture have been blurring as function meets form in intriguing appearances.
- Thin Lines and Unbalanced Moments. Challenging lightness of structure, often unbalanced in form but in a good way.
- Clean-Lined Traditional. Strong clean lines in traditional shapes and styles.
- Texture. Texture that can bring a deeper look to designs.
- Bold Color, Elegant Lines. Teal, turquoise, and peacock blue with anything white help define the look, as do pleated skirts with blue piping.
- Heavy Metals. A combination of mixed metals, tones and textures.
