HSN Unwraps Foodie Gifts For Holiday Season

NEW YORK— HSN plans on a colorful, food-oriented holiday season, or at least that’s what a preview event in New York City suggested.

Food prep will be a focus when it comes to home-related merchandise the television and online retailer will promote for the holiday season. HSN will leverage the relationships it has with celebrity chefs, said HSN spokesperson Meliz Andiroglu, including both long-time and new culinary collaborators.

For example, HSN will feature food prep tools from a celebrity chef who recently joined the fold, Kelsey Nixon. A New York-based chef, Nixon’s appliances are scaled to accommodate smaller living spaces. Housewares under her brand include a hand mixer that uses handle space to store away the beaters. Nixon’s housewares are also richly colored, with the hand mixer presented in a rich yellow and a spice mill clad in a painterly blue finish. HSN set the mixer price at $34.95 and the spice mill price at $19.95.

An HSN favorite, Curtis Stone looked to the cuisine favored in his native Australia to create a set of non-stick steamed pudding molds that HSN will pair with recipes in a holiday season debut. The recipes will help purchasers explore a cuisine category that is big in Australia but less developed here. In addition, HSN will reintroduce the popular Curtis Stone deep multi-purpose pan as a holiday gift item. The price for the pudding molds is $29.95 and come in one- and two-quart sizes, while the pan is set to retail at $39.95.

At the same time, HSN will provide a broad selection of housewares from one of the original celebrity chefs, Wolfgang Puck. The Wolfgang Puck lineup includes the Twist & Mix at $29.95, a your choice 3-piece cutlery, wine, salt and pepper set, $59.95, a 10-piece cutlery with sheath set, $29.95, a 1.5-cup rice cooker, $19.95, and a electric wine opener, $19.95. The Puck product line also incorporates a deep fryer that offers money saving and healthier cooking options at a $129.95 price.

From chef Jamie Gwen comes a 3.5-quart triple burner, at $129.95, while Ming Tsai contributes a 7.5-quart jumbo pan with accessories. Geoffrey Zakarian launches new food storage products that come with a special pen that allows consumers to identify the products, erase and mark up again as they change.

Also for the kitchen, HSN will spotlight a Chopped meat clever clad in a gift box for $19.95.

For the upcoming season, HSN will launch a range of products from Wedgwood including a holiday ornament with a manger theme. The retailer also will provide a line of serveware with seasonal motifs from the Royal Albert brand under the Marquis by Waterford banner. The line includes a 13-inch medium oval platter, a serving bowl, three-tier cake stand and an 11-inch tree tray.

Other home-oriented products that HSN featured at the event included the Marketplace telephone wine cabinet in the form of a British phone box, priced at $199.95 as well as Mighty Mug travel cups, which use suction to keep them from being readily spilled, and Retrospect Mugs that bear declarations such as “I Am Silently Correcting Your Grammar.”

As for personal care products, the holiday lineup includes a Fitbit assortment with prices ranging from $129.95 to $199.95 and a line of Star Wars and Spiderman humidifiers priced at $49.99, as well as an FHI Heat hair straightener.
