This April, Ikea U.S. is introducing a smart lighting collection, a range of products that provide wireless, plug-and-play solutions.
With the smart lighting collection, consumers get the functional and atmospheric benefits of lighting in ways that conform to their lifestyle needs, with features such as dimming, cold and warm light variation, remote steering and light panels.
Among the items in the smart lighting collections, as Ikea describes them:
- Trådfri Motion Sensor Kit. A smart lighting solution that can provide a sense of safety with lighting that responds as soon as consumers walk into a room. The sensor kit can provide instant illumination in a hallway, children’s room or kitchen as sensor-generated light helps guide users through their homes, especially at night. Suggested retail price is $24.99.
- Surte LED Light Doors. These light panels can be mounted in their own right but also work as doors for the retailer’s Bestå cabinets. The panels can be used in practical applications, including as nightlights, or to set a mood as they operate in on/off and dimming modes via remote control.
- Trådfri Dimming Kit. A few clicks of a remote can transform room lighting from cold to warm white or from dim to strong or from clear to soft and subtle. SRP is $29.99.
To further the smart lighting collection’s effectiveness in application, Ikea created its first completely digital home furnishing solution using the Trådfri app, which allows people to use their phones or tablets to pre-set and control different light sources around the house. By adding a Trådfri LED bulb in a socket, users can create an atmosphere or pre-set light sources around the house using a smartphone or a dedicated remote control.
