Ikea plans to open a second store in the Atlanta area, located in Marietta, GA.
The company has identified a site and will submit plans to the city for the store. The company said it has not yet determined an exact timeframe for construction to start or for the opening of the store.
Located approximately 15 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta in the city of Marietta, the proposed Ikea Marietta store would be built on 34 acres on the western side of Interstate 75, between the Marietta Parkway and Delk Road exit interchanges, and accessible via Franklin Gateway. Store plans will reflect the same architectural design for which Ikea stores are known.
The Ikea Marietta store will include its signature inspirational room settings and displays, and areas dedicated to children and families. As part of its sustainability initiatives, the company is also evaluating the location for conservation opportunities and potential on-site power generation to complement its current U.S. renewable energy program.
“After 10 successful years in our midtown location, we are excited to expand our presence with a new store in the Atlanta area,” said Lars Petersson, Ikea U.S. president. “This proposed Marietta store will bring the unique family-friendly shopping experience closer to customers in Cobb County and beyond.”
There are currently 412 Ikea stores in 49 countries, including 47 in the U.S.
