CHICAGO— Smith’s Consumer Products is launching the KitchenIQ Edge Board chopping board at the International Home + Housewares Show, here.
The company has incorporated KitchenIQ’s Edge Grip technology into the board. This feature allows a consumer to sharpen knives along the edge of a counter or table.
The Edge Board is a polypropylene chopping board with a non-slip feature with a wrap that goes around the edge of a counter. The knife sharpener is incorporated into the edge.
“When we were talking about how to add sharpening into a cutting board in a way that would make sense, we decided that incorporating it into the Edge Grip gives the consumer something more. Plus it stores easily in a cabinet or drawer. Also, we added cutting boards into the line last year and this is a progression of that product line, as well as our Edge Grip line of products,” said Melissa Ledbetter, housewares marketing manager, KitchenIQ.
The KitchenIQ Edge Board is also dual sided and enables consumers to funnel chopped foods as needed. It has a suggested retail price of $14.99 and is expected to be available in stores, mid-summer.
In addition to the new Edge Board, KitchenIQ will also feature its Deluxe Diamond Edge Grip 2-Stage Knife Sharpener. According to the company, the 2-stage sharpener is a compact sharpener that offers diamond abrasives that are designed to quickly sharpen damaged and dull straight edge and serrated knives.
The sharpener is lightweight, portable and easy to use on either a flat surface or the edge of the counter top or table. It can be used on high-quality straight or serrated European or American style knives.
The unit comes with non-slip V-Grip base and a soft grip rubber handle for comfort and steadiness when sharpening. Diamond rods for coarse provide ideal quick edge setting capabilities, and the ceramic stones for fine are used for the final edge honing as well as to sharpen serrated style knives.
The Deluxe Diamond Edge Grip 2-Stage Knife Sharpener has a suggested retail price of $7.99.
