At IFA 2016 in Berlin, LG Electronics demonstrated its expanding smart home ecosystem with more partnerships and collaborations, highlighted by its cooperation with Amazon.
According to Reuters, LG said it is partnering with Amazon on smart home services like the integration of Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant into its SmartThinQ hub, a device used to connect LG’s home appliances.
In addition, the company said it would add Amazon’s Dash feature on its SmartThinQ sensors, which enable smart features on appliances that cannot communicate with other devices on their own, to allow users to quickly order household items such as laundry detergent or drinks.
“Collaborating with innovative industry leaders is our core strategy to make LG smart home solutions even more accessible and convenient to consumers,” said Jo Seong-jin, president of LG Electronics. “We believe that differentiating our IoT technology through openness and collaboration will benefit far more customers than a closed system.”
