Walmart is making changes to its merchandising team in an effort to boost sagging sales in the U.S. and overseas, the Wall St. Journal reported on Thursday.
Citing information from an internal memo from Walmart U.S. CEO Greg Foran, the Journal reported that Marybeth Hays, the retailer’s senior vp/home, has been named chief merchandising and marketing officer for Walmart China. She replaces John Furner who, according to the report, will return to the U.S. in a role to be announced at a later date.
Hays’ responsibilities will be split between Scott McCall and Terry Price, both of whom are based at Walmart’s U.S. headquarters in Bentonville.
In addition, Rick Hays, vp/hardware and paint, has been named vp/general merchandise for Sam’s Club China. Laura Wilkin, svp/replenishment, has been named svp/flow strategy and systems innovation. Scott Pleiman, svp, will add replenishment to his duties that include strategy, pricing, planning and modular development.
