David Tisdale
David Tisdale is the president of David Tisdale Design Inc., a full service interior design firm based in Fairfield County, CT. He has been in the home furnishings industry for over 30 years.
After graduating from the University of California and receiving his MA from San Diego State University, he relocated to New York City to set up a jewelry studio, designing one-of-a-kind and limited-edition jewelry, combining precious and non-precious materials into clean, architectural forms. He soon began expanding on his creativity by designing and manufacturing his own line of anodized aluminum tabletop products. This lead to the design and development of a variety of creative concepts for many tabletop and housewares companies, utilizing a range of materials such as ceramics, plastic, glass, crystal, cast and fabricated metals and wood.
Clients include Baccarat, Nambé, Hoya Crystal, Waterford, Dansk and Copco. He also has developed private label programs for Bed Bath & Beyond and Target.
His early interest and education in architecture led him into interior design. His work expands upon his knowledge of form and color relationships, which are the signature elements of his work.
Many of his award-winning designs are featured in the permanent collections of museums worldwide, including the Cooper Hewitt/Smithsonian National Design Museum, the Museum of Arts and Design, New York, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
