Jack Rudin, chairman of the New York-based real estate company Rudin Management Company and owners of Forty One Madison— home to the biannual New York Tabletop Market— died December 4 at the age of 92.
As a builder, Rudin oversaw the design and construction of some of New York City’s most iconic buildings. According to the New York Times, those buildings included 345 Park Avenue, 1 Battery Park Plaza and 3 Times Square.
According to information from his family, Rudin was also a staunch supporter and partner of the New York City trade unions throughout his career. He also had deep philanthropic and community involvement activities in health care, education, the arts and social services.
He is survived by his wife Susan; son and daughter in law Eric and Fiona Rudin; daughter Madeleine Rudin Johnson and her partner Bruce Barnet; daughter Katherine Rudin; stepdaughter Inda Schaenen and her husband Michael Dee; stepdaughter Eve Schaenen and her husband Frank Hentschker and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were scheduled for Tuesday, December 6.
Contributions in Rudin’s memory may be made to the following not-for-profits: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the American Museum of Natural History and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
