Perfect Company has acquired the Orange Chef Company’s Prep Pad, an iOS enabled Bluetooth food scale that provides real-time nutritional information for all raw ingredients and scannable food items. The acquisition will include Prep Pad’s patented technology and app.
While the Prep Pad will be discontinued, Perfect Company said that Orange Chef’s technology will be incorporated into future Perfect smart scale and recipe app systems.
“Orange Chef has been a pioneer in the connected kitchen movement with extremely valuable IP,” said Michael Wallace, CEO, Perfect Company. “As we continue to develop our connected scale products and venture further into the health and nutrition space, we plan to leverage Orange Chef’s patented IoT technology, which not only measures nutrition of the food you prepare, but also records the recipes you make for next time.”
Perfect Company offers Perfect Blend, which works with any blender to create a seamless end-to-end blending experience at home. The Perfect Blend app offers meal planning tools, portions individual servings to the user’s desired number of calories, and sends calorie and other nutritional data to fitness apps via Apple Health or Google Fit. A partnership with Vitamix was announced earlier this year for a custom Vitamix version of Perfect Blend.
The company also manufacturers Perfect Bake, Perfect Drink, and Perfect Kitchen Pro, a combo pack that is compatible with the entire suite of Perfect recipe apps that was launched exclusively with Sur la Table earlier this year.
