Ellie, a portable digital UV LED sterilizer, has launched on the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform.
Ellie is designed to provide medical grade sterilization with its Truviolet proprietary technology, which is said to reduce 99.9% of germs in 60 seconds.
“We took a technology that was once only available in hospitals and laboratories and harnessed and miniaturized it into a portable, family-friendly appliance,” said Yitao Liao, founder of Ellie. “The benefits of this breakthrough are virtually endless. The Truviolet technology is able to sterilize everything from babies’ bottles and pacifiers to drinking water and surfaces.”
In addition to bottles, Ellie can be used to sterilize numerous baby related products including breast pump parts, baby toothbrushes, spoons, bowls, teething rings and small toys, for example. Company officials also noted that the appliance is able to sterilize any item that fits inside the compartment.
About the size of a lunchbox, Ellie has a sleek and ergonomic design and fits into a tote or diaper bag. Ellie is powered by a USB rechargeable battery and can last more than one week before needing to be recharged, the company said.
