The For Sale sign has gone up at BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Amazon could be a potential suitor, according to a report from the New York Post.
According to the report, BJ’s owners CVC Capital Partners and Leonard Green & Partners have put the warehouse club chain on the block in a deal that could reach $4 billion.
Citing sources familiar with BJ’s, the Post reported that Amazon has “recently discussed” evaluating BJ’s as an acquisition target, but it was not known to what degree the e-commerce giant was interested in the warehouse club chain.
Officials with BJ’s declined to comment on the report, and Amazon officials did not comment.
Headquartered in Westborough, MA, BJ’s operates 214 clubs and 130 BJ’s Gas locations in 15 eastern states.
