Sears Canada has set final plans and specific dates for the closing of nine Sears Home Stores in Canada.
The previously announced closures will occur by August 27, with sales events already underway. Sears Canada is currently in the process of closing 59 stores and cutting 2,900 jobs. In June, the retailer filed for bankruptcy protection.
Sales began August 18 and will continue to run until the last day that each store remains open for business. Four Stores will close on August 23 and the remaining five will close on August 27. Discounts will range up to 90% off brand name furniture, refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, dishwashers, mattresses and home décor while merchandise remains available.
The stores affected include Ancaster, Orillia, Scarborough, London and Ottawa in Ontario, Quebec City, Ste-Foy, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville in Quebec and Calgary South in Alberta.
