CHICAGO— “New” will be the theme for Sensio at this year’s International Home + Housewares Show as the small electrics supplier will debut a host of appliances along with its double-decker booth.
In addition, chef Jason Roberts, the company’s Bella brand ambassador, will return to offer cooking demonstrations throughout the show. Best known as an advocate for healthy foods, Roberts has appeared on a variety of television shows including “Good Morning America” and “Rachael Ray Show.”
From a new product standpoint, a featured new item will be the company’s new electric spiralizer. The unit is designed to stand horizontally and is equipped with a professional gearing system designed to prevent vegetables from jamming, according
to the company.
“Spiralizing remains a hot trend,” said Shae Hong, Sensio’s CEO. “We tested some Chinese carrots with the unit and it pushed them right through.”
The copper trend has stayed hot within housewares and other product categories, and Sensio under its Bella brand is offering a new assortment that features Whitford’s copper titanium coating on all cooking surfaces. Items in the line include a waffle maker, griddle and skillet.
“Consumers are continually inundated with advertising that talks about the benefits of copper, whether it’s in housewares or with health and fitness products,” Hong noted. “Many consumers now view copper products as offering something special.”
With one-pot appliances continuing to grow in popularity, Sensio will showcase a new 10-quart slow cooker, much larger in size than the usual 4-quart or 6-quart units found today on the shelves and websites of most retailers.
The new unit is part of a new line of products that includes a slow cooker and a skillet that are larger in size and offer deeper cooking wells.
“People with large families or those who like to entertain at home are looking for larger products to prepare a variety of food,” he said.
Under its Bialetti and Bella brands, Sensio is also showcasing a selection of new products in either a black matte finish or a combination of black and stainless steel.
“We see this finish and color combination as a growing design trend,” Hong said. “We used a triple coated matte painting process that results in a true black matte finish.”
