SodaStream is launching its Aqua Fizz sparkling water maker at the International Home + Housewares Show. The new brand is a U.S. initiative and will be available at retail starting in June.
According to the company, Aqua Fizz provides consumers with a brand that is purely focused on a premium sparkling water experience in a glass carafe.
The launch of Aqua Fizz complements the SodaStream brand to create a more complete brand portfolio, which better represents consumer needs in the United States, company officials said, noting that the Aqua Fizz unit is an upgrade to the Crystal machine currently sold in Europe.
The Aqua Fizz makes fresh sparkling water in seconds and features an easy to clean stainless steel body and dishwasher-safe glass bottles. At the touch of a button, users can carbonate tap water, without the use of electricity, batteries or plumbing.
The Aqua Fizz kit will be available from premium retail outlets in the U.S. and includes one 60-liter CO2 cartridge and two glass carafes with fizz preserving caps. Aqua Fizz is powered by the SodaStream CO2 carbonators, which are available at about 10,000 retail locations in the US.
“Americans now drink more water than soda and I’m delighted to take water to the next level with the luxurious Aqua Fizz,” said Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream International. “Consistent with our mission to revolutionize the beverage industry, we’re bringing a straightforward sparkling water system with a beautiful glass carafe that any style-conscious consumer would be proud to put on their dining table. This launch marks an important milestone in our strategic shift toward sparkling water and away from sweetened beverages.”
The premium sparkling water maker, Aqua Fizz, retails at $179 and will be rolling out to retailers in June.
