SodaStream, Game Of Thrones Team On New Promotion

SodaStream has unveiled a video featuring characters from the HBO series “Game of Thrones” that highlights what company officials said are the benefits of using its home carbonating system to make sparkling water at home.

The “Shame or Glory” video is a take on the walk of shame atonement scene from the show’s fifth season. The video features British comedian Ross Hatt working as a production assistant on a mission to buy sparkling water from a local supermarket. He is pursued by Game of Thrones actress Hannah Waddingham as Septa Unella, who rings the bell of shame and repeatedly shouts “shame” as Hatt purchases sparkling water from a local grocery store that is sold in plastic bottles.

When Hatt reaches the set, actor Thor Bjornsson, who plays Ser Gregor Clegane (“The Mountain’), explains the benefits of using a SodaStream machine and local tap water instead of using and throwing away plastic water bottles.

“Our new video ‘Shame or Glory’ uses humor and surprise to challenge the epidemic use of plastic, single-serve bottles that are polluting our Earth,” said Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream. “More than one billion beverage bottles are used every single day around the world, the overwhelming majority of that plastic ends up in our landfills, parks and oceans.”
