SodaStream Sales Grow In Q1

Strong growth across its four geographic selling regions propelled SodaStream in the first quarter as company-wide sales were up double-digits.

Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was $115.3 million, an increase of 14% over the same quarter the year earlier. Net income increased 141.8% to $14.7 million with diluted earnings per share up 129.3% to $0.66 per share.

By region, Western Europe remains the company’s largest with $70 million in sales, an increase of 12% year-over-year. Sales in the Americas segment increased 12% to $25.6 million.

“Sales grew double digits in each of our four geographic regions as investments in marketing fueled strong demand for sparkling water makers,” said Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream. “At the same time, gas refill units increased 12% year-over-year, the strongest quarterly gain in several years as a growing number of households are utilizing our home carbonation system to produce sparkling water.”
