Walmart has introduced virtual reality into its employee training program.
The retailer has incorporated virtual reality into 30 of the training academies it operates, teaching workers to handle situations from the everyday, such as managing the fresh area, to the rare, such as Black Friday.
VR allows associates to experience a lifelike store environment and experiment, learn and handle difficult situations without recreating disruptive incidents or disturbing customer shopping experiences.
According to Walmart, associates who go through VR training retain the lessons they’ve learned better than those who haven’t. Because of the promising results, Walmart stated that it would roll out VR training to all 200 of its academies by the end of 2017.
