Wahl Names Man Of The Year Contest Winner

In an effort to promote men’s grooming, Wahl has chosen a winner for its annual “Man of the Year Contest,” Jeremy Davis of Chicago.

The contest kicked off in May when Wahl announced its “10 Most Facial Hair Friendly Cities in America.” The journey involved a 30-foot mobile barbershop and a team of master barbers traveling from city to city to give men free trims and grooming advice. Bearded men were chosen at each of the cities and one from outside the top 10 cities.

“Our annual facial hair face-off is designed to find and celebrate guys who embrace a whiskered lifestyle,” said Steven Yde, division vice president of marketing for Wahl. “Not only do we seek out men with a knack for grooming, we look for men who consider facial hair to be an integral part of who they are.”

The 11 finalists each won $500 and a Lithium Ion stainless steel trimmer. Online votes then helped Davis rise to the top of the list.

“Jeremy exudes what it means to embrace facial hair as a lifestyle,” said Yde. “He’s a believer in the impact it has on a man’s overall look and confidence, and he has a great full beard.”

As the next Wahl Man of the Year, Davis takes home a $1,500 grand prize, he will be featured in a national advertisement and he will retain the title as an example of great facial hair throughout 2017, the company said.
