Second quarter company-wide sales at Williams-Sonoma were up 8.5% as comparable store sales also grew for the period ended August 2. Total company sales were $1.127 billion, up from sales of $1.039 billion in the comparable quarter the previous year. Comparable store sales were up 6.3%. Four of the company’s five divisions reported comparable store sales growth, with only Williams-Sonoma reporting a decrease (0.3%) in same-store sales. Pottery Barn comps were reported at 6.4%, West Elm, 15.7%, Pottery Barn Kids, 3.3%, and PBteen, 3.9%. E-commerce sales continue to outpace retail revenue. For the quarter, total e-commerce sales were $569.9 million, up from $522.5 million in the comparable quarter the previous year. Retail net revenues for the quarter were $557.1 million, up from sales of $516.5 million in the same quarter in 2014. Net earning for the quarter were $53.6 million, up from net revenue of $50.7 million in the same quarter the prior year. “We are pleased to have delivered another quarter of solid performance, once again demonstrating the competitive advantage from our multi-brand, multi-channel, business model,” said Laura Alber, president and CEO, Williams-Sonoma. “As anticipated, during the quarter, we incurred incremental supply chain costs primarily associated with the west coast port disruption to restore our in-stock inventory levels.” For the third quarter, the company anticipates total revenue of between $1.19 billion and $1.22 billion, with comparable revenue growth of between 4% and 6%.
