ABC News has now documented the cold brew coffee trend in a recent segment that will be airing nationally on The List. Cold brew coffee, which is brewed slowly in cold water for up to 24 hours, has recently gained more exposure by finding placement on menus nationally at restaurants like Starbucks and Chick-Fil-A. In the ABC News segment, The List host speaks with AZ-based Infusion Coffee shop owner Patrick O’Malley to uncover the beneficial characteristics of the beverage: low acid, clean taste, high in caffeine and convenience, O’Malley said. To demonstrate how to make the beverage, O’Malley utilized the Epoca Pace Cold Brew Coffee Maker and followed three steps: fill the maker with the appropriate portions of ground coffee and ice, add water while stirring the grounds, and then place the maker in the fridge to brew for 18 to 24 hours. Vendors in the category have noted that consumers have become more aware of the taste and health benefits that the drink offers over regular iced or hot coffee, and seem willing to pay the premium price for the beverage. “Last year the conversation was ‘What is cold brew?’ But this year you mention it to people and they say ‘Oh yeah, I just had one,’” said Brian Melzer, president of Epoca.
