Five years after acquiring drugstore.com and beauty.com, Walgreens Boots Alliance is shutting down the websites.
In a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission on July 27, Walgreens said that its retail pharmacy division would cease operations of the two websites. The decision, according to the company, is the next step in the company’s omnichannel strategy and initiatives to focus more on the development of Walgreens.com. Shutdown of the sites is expected to be complete by the end of September.
Walgreens Boots acquired the two health and beauty websites in 2011 for $429 million.
