Dyson has opened its third demo store location, located on Oxford Street in London, to showcase its new appliances and technology. The showroom space is engineered to encourage consumers to pick up, test and experience Dyson’s technology, the company said. A number of Dyson appliances will be showcased and demonstrated at the new location including the Pure Cool Link air purifier fan, 360 Eye robot vacuum, Supersonic hair dryer, V8 cord-free vacuums and lighting. Jake Dyson, research design and development director and board member for Dyson, said, “It is by picking up and experiencing Dyson products that you are able to understand why and how we use new technology to improve performance. The Dyson Demo encourages people to be hands-on. The Supersonic salon introduces hair science to the high street for the first time, and nowhere else can you choose between 64 types of dust and debris to test a vacuum cleaner.” Max Conze, Dyson CEO, added, “We are in the business of making technology that works in fundamentally different ways. It is best understood when experienced and explained in a Dyson environment by Dyson experts. We are bringing engineering to life. We are restless to create more demo spaces around the world.” Similar demo locations are set to open in other cities worldwide, the company said.

The front-end performance by the national drug chains is under intensifying scrutiny after flat or declining comps the past several months. That threatens to squeeze the growth potential, if it already hasn’t, for housewares in the drug channel.
